It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from that point Healy was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this victory succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
