Much like bad weather tore through the north-west the previous evening, Manchester City blew United aside at the their home ground. It was a convincing three goal triumph for the City coach's side due to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that firmly established their leadership claims as they strengthened their place at the WSL pinnacle.

Successive Setbacks for United

This scoreline marked back-to-back Women's Super League losses for Marc Skinner’s side for the first time since May 2024, putting them a sizable gap off the top team with their trophy ambitions in serious doubt.

The Red Devils' capability to manage domestic and European football with a limited team has been a widely debated issue since they qualified for the European competition. Reviewing the fixture list, it always seemed this was the week that would seriously challenge this ability. Regrettably for the away side, they seemed weary all game, the memorable win against the French side clearly having left its mark.

Lineup Adjustments
